Excel Management Team: Richard Dinh

Richard Dinh joined the Comtel Telcom Assets team in conjunction with Sowood Capital Management. Mr. Dinh was an integral part of the team that performed the due diligence and closed on the Vartec / Excel assets. Upon a successful bid of the assets, Mr. Dinh was named as Senior Vice President of Operations.  He subsequently took over Network Operations and has been instrumental in the migration of a 19-site legacy DMS network to the largest Feature Group-D deployment on a VoIP platform in the US.

Richard Dinh served as COO of Mercantel Communications LP and has been in the telecommunications space for the last seven years.  Mr. Dinh has previously worked for Simplified Development Corporation, where he helped secure investor funding for Simplified’s first round.  Mr. Dinh also managed Simplified customer accounts in Asia, resulting in him being the lead consultant for the SingTel project.  Meanwhile, Richard also was one of the responsible parties involved in creating a wholesale voice division and platform for Dynegy, which has led to the formation of Teleworks Wholesale Services, L.P. 

Prior to Simplified, Mr. Dinh was a financial analyst with a Goldman Sachs subsidiary structuring mezzanine finance deals that included but were not limited to real estate bond offerings from JP Morgan and the Bank of Tokyo in addition to managing real estate debt portfolios for the Goldman Sachs fund and the Archon Group. 

Mr. Dinh graduated from Harvard University in 1998 with an honors degree in Psychology
